Pekan Star is the 5-1 favourite with Coral for Saturday's John Smith's Cup, following the latest entry stage for the showpiece handicap, while Delegator heads Coral's betting for the Darley July Cup at 7-2, with the latter race taking place on the same day as the York contest for the first time.
"Saturday is the busiest day of the week in betting shops, and so in theory it is good news that the Group One Darley July Cup has become the feature race of the day. However, the John Smith's Cup is traditionally one of the biggest betting handicaps of the summer, and with punters having a finite amount of money to bet with, it will be interesting to see if the presence of the Newmarket card - which also includes another big betting heat, the Bunbury Cup - has an impact on turnover on the day's other meetings," said Coral's David Stevens.
