The Hayemaker's first defence of his well earned WBA Heavyweight Title is on Saturday at Manchester's MEN Arena live on SKY SPORTS. Haye has only lost one in 24 fights, became Boxing Heavyweight Champion of the World with a points win over Russia's Valuev in Nuremberg, November 2009. David Haye has only fought three times as a heavyweight, but his talent and focus should compensate for any lack of experience. John Ruiz is a successful heavyweight in his own right and has been at the top of his field for a long time. He has the experience and claims to have refined his boxing style to ensure victory over The Hayemaker. This opponent has to be taken seriously, with 44 wins (33 of them being KOs) out of 54 fights. What's going to be the result on Saturday - a win for The Haymaker is expected. The bookmakers believe this as well - with all the money on the Champion to retain his belt and in so doing, start his legacy of being one of Boxing Heavyweight Greatests! I'm betting

It's like a reality TV show - with Liverpool Football Club in the spotlight for all the wrong reasons. Poor results, boardroom antics, buyers expressing interest (sometimes), debt, no cash, Torres not scoring - all these make for a great show, with a lot of episodes still to run! When will it all end is anyone's guess. If American Duo ever agree to sell (without making any profit on their investment), and new owners come in - will it really make any difference? The club will still have relatively little cash for the January Transfers, and it probably won't have any effect on player performances, especially Torres. Getting rid of America owners, only to be replaced by another - may not be the smartes move. However, with club desperate to be sold and NESV having a better track record with sporting entities - it may just be the bit of luck that the club needs. Hopefully Roy will be able to ride out this period; and get a few wins under his belt to ease the growing pressure for

In a rain affected first day practice for the British Grand Prix , it was Red Bull's Mark Webber that came out on top by producing the fastest time of the day in session one and Coral bookmakers have trimmed his prices in a number of markets. He is now 9-2 (from 11-2) to win the race on Sunday and 8-13 (from 5-6) to finish on the podium. Coral have also cut his price to start in pole position to 4-1 (from 5-1). World championship leader, Sebastian Vettel , still dominates the betting and is odds-on 4-5 to win and 1-2 to take pole. "Although efforts were rather limited in the rain, it was Red Bull that as usual stood out," said Coral spokesman Gary Burton. Cora l are also offering punters a great concession for anyone who has a bet on either Lewis Hamilton or Jenson Button . The firm will refund stakes if your driver fails to finish in the top 10 in Sundays race. "As the Brits are the best backed drivers in a home Grand Prix we could be seen to be taking a risk with our

Mark Webber, Lewis Hamilton and Sebastian Vettel are the 9-4 joint favourites with Coral bookmakers to win the German Grand Prix , following today's final qualifying session which saw the former take pole position and his price cut from 9-2. Hamilton's much improved performance from earlier practice sessions, to take second on the grid, has seen his price slashed from 7-1. Early race favourite , Vettel, has drifted out from 6-5 after finishing outside the top two for the first time this season. "We were relieved to see Hamilton pipped for pole after taking a number of bets at big prices following his disappointment on Friday," said Coral spokesman Gary Burton. "He was 20-1 at one stage, but punters still have faith in their hero, even when practice doesn't go to plan." Vettel remains the 1-10 favourite to retain his world championship, with Fernando Alonso at 10-1 and Hamilton 25-1. ** GERMAN GRAND PRIX OUTRIGHT WINNER 9-4 (from 9-2) Mark Webber, (from 7

Having secured the services of Wayne Rooney for a further five years and taken all three points from an away game for the first time this season the Old Trafford faithful will be satisfied with nothing less than a victory when they host Tottenham in Saturday’s late kick-off. While Rooney is sunning himself in Dubai his teammates will be hoping that Tottenham’s own ‘golden boy’ Gareth Bale doesn’t add to the stunning hat-trick he scored in the San Siro ten days ago. The Welshman has certainly come of age this season and with Rafael van der Vaart now settled in Harry Redknapp has a team capable on their day of beating the best. With United still far from convincing at the back Bale and his colleagues look sure to put pressure on their paceless defence and a home win represents poor value at the current odds. That isn’t to say that we can stream into Tottenham, who although up to fifth in the table didn’t excel in their home draw with Everton last

After a decade in which outstanding club sides like Birr, Ballyhale Shamrocks and Portumna dominated the club hurling landscape, it's difficult to look at results like last weekend and think that the winner of the 2011 club All Ireland title will almost certainly come from that bunch of clubs. Thurles Sarsfields' attack never really got going against Kilmallock and they had to rely on 1-2 from the substitutes bench to edge their way past the Limerick champions, while in the other semi final De la Salle showed plenty of attacking power and resolve but equally they looked frail defensively. Oulart the Ballagh were delighted to hear the final whistle in Mullingar as Raharney were coming like a train in the closing stages of that game, while perhaps the most impressive performance of all was in Nowlan Park where O'Loughlin Gaels overcame a bad start and the concession of several goals to get past Ballyboden St Endas. O'Loughlins lack the star power of Ballyhale or even Carrickshock

The least ardent cricket fan cannot have escaped the intense hype of the Ashes which starts Thursday at 00:00 or midnight Wednesday if you prefer. If you have heard pundits talking up England’s new found confidence, their laudable preparations or their technical prowess, don’t believe a word of it. These Ashes are about; how poor are the Australians! England can win their first series in Australian since they retained the Ashes in 1986-87. Perennial underdogs in every Ashes Down Under, this time the prices on offer are more to do with history than logic. History counts for nothing when the first ball is bowled in Brisbane but losing is a habit and in every away series since fat Gatt brought home Little Urn, England have been comprehensively thrashed. The reasons are simple, the following series in 90-91 England’s ‘House of Cards’ were a complete shambles and heralded a generation of Pommie subservience. That England side led by Graham Gooch had quality and

I know a lot has been said about Portsmouth with regards to their present situation and how it all came to past. As a neutral, I feel great sorrow for the fans and supporters of the club. It is a shame it has come this, in front of the media and it will now be a cemented in Pompey's history. However, it does show a lack of control, judgement and honour by all involved in this fiasco. As a result it is only fair that the club has been penalised. Hopefully it will provide a wake up call for other clubs, The Premier League Board and, indeed, the Football Association to ensure this does not happen again - at least not in the manner and huge scale of Portsmouth. Due to them now becoming FA Cup Finalists, Portsmouth are now to appeal to the Football Association over their failed application for a UEFA license - in the hope of playing in Europe next year (Chelsea being certain to qualify for the Champions League as a result of their league position, so the Europa League place on offer for

Tottenham have done much to upset the title hopes of Arsenal and Chelsea in the last ten days and their London rivals will be hoping they can repeat the feat when they face Man United at Old Trafford in Saturday’s early game. Redknapp’s men were outstanding in putting the Gunners to the sword at White Hart Lane and to follow up with a comfortable 2-1 success over the leaders Chelsea last Saturday, which in no flattered them, shows just how far the Lilywhites have come this season. A similar performance against the Champions should cement their fourth spot in the league and Champions League football for next season. United go into the game on the back of a last minute victory over Man City at Eastlands and although they have not been showing their best form of late they do grind out those wins and Ferguson instils are rare self belief in his players. A home win offers little in the way of value although it simply has to be the call as Spurs have been less than convincing on the
